Reduction of false alarms and daily monitoring effort

Thanks to the intelligent alarm system from Amperecloud Platform, Energiesysteme Groß has been able to significantly reduce the number of faulty alarms and relieve the burden on its own control room. Against the backdrop of strong portfolio growth, the company also relies on the services of Amperecloud Operation.

Initial situation: Too many false alarms & hardly any support

In recent years, Energiesysteme Groß GmbH & Co. KG has grown strongly in recent years. The Hessian EPC and O&M company has been able to expand its PV portfolio to over 50 MWp within just a few years. The "Hessen Champion" is also aiming for a strong expansion of PV systems and extensions to the business area in the coming years.

As the company has grown in size, the monitoring effort has also increased in recent years. "We received too many error messages in our old monitoring software that weren't actually errors," says Jens Dörbaum, authorized signatory and technical manager. Every day, employees in the control room had to meticulously work through alarm lists just to close the numerous false alarms.

Support from the software provider at the time was also inadequate. Both factors ultimately led to an increasingly inefficient control room with a rapidly growing portfolio.

Better networking of control room and technical teams desired

Accordingly, the team at Energiesysteme Groß looked around the market for a new software solution. This should not only solve the problem of false alarms, but also optimize structures within the company. Among other things, this included better networking between the control room and technicians.

In view of the strong growth it was aiming for, however, Energiesysteme Groß was not just looking for a highly functional software solution. Rather, the aim was to find a long-term partner who could also provide advice and develop solutions to meet individual requirements.

"With a growing investment portfolio and a lack of specialist staff to monitor the systems, Amperecloud is an indispensable partner."

Clarity meets efficient alarm & ticket system

A research and selection process lasting several months then began in mid-2022. "Amperecloud impressed us right from the start with its high level of service expertise and the clarity of the Platform software solution," recalls Dörbaum of the initial contact.

On the functional side, the Amperecloud Platform monitoring software particularly impressed the Hessian company with its alarm system and comprehensive CMMS. Even during the pilot phase, the employees in the control room noticed that the number of faulty alarms could be significantly reduced.

In addition, Energiesysteme Groß also realized the desired improvements to critical company processes through the introduction of Amperecloud Platform. "We can convert tickets into assignments with one click, create tasks and, above all, forward them directly to technicians on site. This makes communication between the control room and technicians in the field much easier," says Steffen Brandt, Head of Technology & Service.

Operations service enables scaling of the portfolio - despite a shortage of skilled workers

In the course of the collaboration with Amperecloud, ESG was able to achieve the targeted portfolio growth. In mid-2023, however, the company was faced with a new challenge: despite the new software, it was unable to fully cover the growing need for monitoring. At the same time, there was a shortage of skilled workers in Niestetal in Hesse - as everywhere else in Germany.

At the end of 2023, Jörg Dörbaum therefore decided to use the Amperecloud Operations service product. The Amperecloud control room team takes over the daily, highly operational monitoring of the PV systems as well as reporting tasks.

"Amperecloud Operations makes our day-to-day business easier because we no longer have to keep a constant eye on all the systems," says Dörbaum of the service. The use of the external control room saves a great deal of time and relieves the burden on the company's own employees. In total, around 20 to 30 hours a week can be saved.

Conclusion: Combined software and service solution creates enormous efficiency benefits

Before working with Amperecloud, the control room at Energiesysteme Groß GmbH & Co. KG had to process many faulty alarms. The company was also at risk of reaching its growth limits due to a shortage of skilled workers.

The introduction of the Amperecloud Platform monitoring software initially led to a reduction in faulty alarms of around 25 percent. Coupled with the services subsequently commissioned as part of Amperecloud Operations, ESG is ideally positioned for the future scaling of its portfolio.
